Membership Information
Please note: we do not have an active Call for Artists (CFA) at this time. We maintain a roster of 25 full members and a number of provisional members. We invite you to respond to the next CFA which will be issued on a space available basis generally about 4 months prior to a show. For your reading pleasure, here's an example of a typical CFA showing how things work.
The Charlotte Art Collective in Charlotte, NC is seeking artists interested
in a provisional membership which would allow them to participate in our shows
on a space-available basis. Our next show is planned for (TBA).
Professional artists in all
mediums are encouraged to apply initially for provisional membership by jury review of resume and digital photographs of work. There is a non-refundable application fee of $25. We do not have dues but instead require a very reasonable booth fee (currently $60) prior to participation in any show. Here's how membership works.
Provisional membership provides ongoing first consideration for participation in shows where there is space. When provisional members have interest in participating in a particular show, they notify our jury. All provisional members are expected to participate in tasks prior to and following the any show where they will be appearing such as publicity, , but are not required (although they are invited) to participate in group support tasks throughout the year. When full memberships become available, provisional members are given first consideration.
Full membership provides guaranteed space in each show with the right of first refusal. Full members are required to 1) display in a minimum number of shows over a period of time and 2) participate in task(s) of their choice that support the group throughout the year as well as before and after each show as explained in the next paragraph.
The Charlotte Art Collective has produced eight consecutive,
successful art shows over four years by combining member skills at event planning, promotion, execution, and of course, cleanup. Every member in a show helps to produce the show by
volunteering as needed. Jobs include
publicity, floor plan, ordering and delivering tables for artists needing them,
putting up signs, creating the postcards, maintaining the website, serving on
the jury on a rotating basis, coordinating the artists potluck lunch, etc.
While the Charlotte
Art Collective has grown to 25 members, the focus has always remained
the same: the support and friendship of fellow artists who create a way to
display and sell their fine art and crafts.
All the artists in the group are
professionals, many with gallery representation in the US and Europe. Many teach art or earn their living selling
their art.
